Rum Cay was recently hit hard by Hurricane Joaquin. The island has not experienced a storm like this in over 50 years. Most homes were flooded or destroyed, wells were contaminated with salt water, and the power grid was decimated. These are only some of the devastations.
Our first phase of relief efforts were focused on helping to organize & communicate what the immediate needs were on the island. Contributions were made towards fuel and immediate relief supplies.
In January we moved into our second phase of relief efforts which is the rebuild. Rum Cayans were in vital need of getting their houses back in working order. Due to flooding and roof damage almost every household is in need of beds & appliances as most refrigerators, stoves, washing machines & freezers are in disrepair. The Rum Cay Foundation decided that our main focus was to provide new mattresses and one new appliance per household.
We ask you to please consider making a donation to help these great people. Your donation is 100% tax deductible. Your generosity will help pay for immediate aid as well as supplies for re-development.
If you would prefer to donate by check please make payable to The Rum Cay Foundation and post to 33 Witherspoon St., Princeton, NJ 08542
Thank you in advance
